All students and staff of Hochschule der Medien (HdM) can create surveys with HdMSurvey survey.hdm-stuttgart.de – without any costs or restrictions in scope.
HdMSurvey uses the LimeSurvey software and runs exclusively on internal servers of the university, therefore you are able to conduct surveys on a platform with optimal data protection.

Available survey languages: German, German (informal), German (easy language), English, French, Spanish

Data protection note

Whereas HdM is solely responsible for providing the HdMSurvey service, survey creators always are personally responsible for secure handling of personal data collected through their surveys.
They are required to inform participants beforehand about who exactly collects which kinds of data for which purposes.
If personal data (according to GDPR article 4) is collected through the survey, the participants' consent is mandatory (survey settings: Data Policy Settings > mandatory checkbox).

Deletion: Survey data must be exported in time, since surveys will be deleted without notice six months after the closing date. The same applies to inactive surveys that date back more than 6 months. If you might want to use the survey again in the future be sure to backup the survey structure as well.
Please note that you are responsible for the proper deletion of any personal data that you may have stored on external storage devices.

Accessibility

Unfortunately, the platform does not meet the necessary accessibility requirements for survey creators.
For participants, HdMSurvey is mostly accessible (as specified below).

Some adjustments to the basic software have been made in order to reduce existing barriers for survey participants. However, some aspects remain that are not fully accessible for people with certain handicaps. These question types should be avoided when creating surveys.

Non-accessible question types: Input on demand, Array by column, Ranking.

If you encounter any other barriers, please contact survey@hdm-stuttgart.de
